North West - Motorists to use alternative roads near Brits
Brits - Police request that motorists use alternative routes after protests erupted on the R104 Road between Mooinooi and Hartbeespoort Dam, North West, today.
The road has been closed as barricades of rocks and stones have been placed on the road by protestors. Authorities are monitoring the situation.
According to police’s Adele Myburgh, traffic officials and police are in the area to assist and direct motorists onto alternative roads.
“According to information received the community at Bokfontein informal settlement are unhappy as the local mines did not employ the locals.
We would just like to again request that the community use alternative roads as stones are being thrown and also there are barricades of rocks and stones and stuff like that placed on the road’s surface,” explains Myburgh.
