Alves: We Do not Know Astori
Former Juventus defender Dani Alves has raised his voice about the death of Fiorentina captain Davide Astori, who gets a lot of sympathy and attention from all over Europe, even the world. But unlike his fellow soccer players, Alves did not feel saddened by the 31-year-old defender's death.
That's because Brazilians judge that every day thousands of children die, and they should get the same attention. In addition, Alves also claimed not too familiar with Astori.
"We are not too troubled (with Astori's death), because we do not know him well," Alves told a news conference ahead of the game against Real Madrid in the second leg of the Champions League last 16.
"I express my sadness to his family, I think Davide (Astori) has done what he has to do for this chaotic world, but now he is in a better place.
"We have to die, sooner or later, because that is something that will happen, maybe we will feel sad, but certainly not like when the family died," he concluded.
During the Juventus defending, Alves has several times appeared face-to-face with Astori on the pitch.
