The Longest Lunar Eclipse Of The Century
Hello Steemians. For those of you who enjoy the night sky and all it has to offer I write the following post. We gaze upward (some of us longingly) and look at the moon when the weather permits. Well if you're an avid astronomer or just a basic amatuer this July is going to be one for the ages.
The longest lunar eclipse of the century is happening at the end of THIS month on July 27th!
Care to take a guess on how long this celestial event will last? Just the partial eclispe alone will last over three hours long! The main event itself of a full lunar eclipse will last for one hour and forty three minutes, give or take a second.
Unfortunately unless you live in South America, Africa, Middle East or Central Asia you probably won't see it. Let's all be grateful to the internet though as I'm sure many people will be broadcasting it live in those parts of the world.
Fun Fact: A lunar eclipse always happens within two weeks of a solar eclipse. This summer, two partial solar eclipses will take place on July 12 and August 11. These can be seen from Australia, and parts of Europe and Asia, respectively.
