LNG terminal in the sea waiting for gas supply
Ankalance Special Accelerator of Accelerate Energy in the United States has been anchored in Maheshkhali part of the Bay of Bengal, 97 kilometers away from Chittagong Port jetty. About 277 meters long this vessel (which will be used as a floating terminal) has 4,33,000 cubic meter liquefied natural gas (LNG) in four chambers. The ship came to LNG from Qatar on April 24th. The base station of LNG supply at sea in the sea on the seafront of the sea, 4 kilometers (4 miles) from Maheshkhali coast. After the test, the ship will land at the base station in the middle of this month. Then the gas supply will begin.
The ship, which is waiting for gas supply, visited last Sunday, the 29-member government delegation of power, energy and mineral resources department. They boarded the naval warship 'Abu Bakr' and flew about three and a half hours from the Chittagong naval base in the sea and they boarded the ship. The bottom part of the red colored vessel is 125 meters. After collecting the liquefied natural gas from this vessel, it will be supplied to the whole country through pipes.
The delegation was the chairman of the parliamentary standing committee on electricity, energy and mineral resources. Tajul Islam. He said, after the supply of gas from the ship, the pace of production of private industrial enterprises will be in progress.
Prime Minister's private development adviser Salman F Rahman said that the biggest problem was the decrease in gas pressure. Many industries are closed or not being fully operational due to low gas pressure. In this situation, initiatives have been taken to meet the demand by importing LNG. If the gas supply starts, the investment will increase. The private sector will return to face. This will increase the GDP growth, including employment opportunities.
Talking to the concerned people, this gas from the floating terminal of Maheshkhali will be connected to the national grid in the pipeline. For this, a 91-kilometer pipeline has been constructed from floating terminal to Anwara of Chittagong. The vessel will supply 46 million cubic feet of gas per day.
Managing Director of Transformed Natural Gas Limited Kamruzzaman said that by reducing the temperature, the gas was reduced by 600 times to the ship. If natural gas is reduced to 160 degrees Celsius by minus technology then it becomes liquid.
Regarding the safety of this sensitive setting, Chittagong Naval Fleet Commander Rear Admiral M Ashraful Haque said, after the entry of the waters of Bangladesh, the navy gives safety of any ship after entering the waters of Bangladesh. Two ships and two express vessels provide the safety of floating terminals. The Coast Guard and coastal areas on the coast, as well as the Navy and the police, are also in charge of supervising security activities.
