What Cryptocurrencies Can Teach Us About Greed

in #news7 years ago

Over the past few months cryptocurrencies saw an amazing run. Many saw their investments reach unbelievable valuations. Many failed to sell due to greed. It could only go higher, right?

Most people that got into the cryptocurrency train, partly did because of the heavy manipulation in the traditional markets. They expected Bitcoin and the other cryptos to be an escape from the old ways and the path onto something new. Yes, the same greed patterns are presented in these markets as well.

The only difference is that the participants are regular people who used to call "the others" greedy. Most of these people though, got to experience what the rich have always been experiencing. The idea that one can have more and that everything can only go higher, is what regular people stigmatised as "the problem" with our society. Yet, they too had the chance to change things for themselves and yet repeated the same old pattern. And they lost huge profits.

Humans are not that different from one another. Whether one is poor or rich is of little difference. The only difference is that the one has yet to be presented with the opportunity that will unravel them into the mentality of the other. Think of human status for example as stages in a video game. With every level the character finds themselves into situations they get to experience different sensations and realisations. With crypto a poor average person could taste the feelings, sensations and mentality of those whom he accused just a few years back about greed.

Nobody feels that they are greedy. It is always the others that are greedy. Right? The billionaire feels like they are creating jobs for others so they are not greedy. Their assets are invested. The workers feel their boss is greedy because they have less than him. People from Somalia feel that the workers of the billionaire guy are greedy because they have more than enough to live comfortably, afford medication and food and not have their children die from hunger. The chain goes on and on based on the level each human being is found.

Much like the markets and natural ecosystems, this distribution of greed creates a structure where one accuses the other. Cryptocurrencies have demonstrated this very well and the average Joe got to be "rich for a day" and saw how this felt. If you ever wonder why the economic system will not change any time soon, well you have your answer. Even if we replace those at top with the most idealists of us, the same result will occur. It is human nature to be greedy because we are primarily selfish beings. We value ourselves first.

i agree with your opinion. Sometimes i dont believe behavior of people. Some people borrowed and invested to cryptocurrencies. This is totally nonsense. Criyptocurrencies have a technology and this technology will change our life. i believe it. But everybody focus to market price for to be rich. And many people will continue to be hurt by their ambitions.

Thanks for share. i like your post. have a nice day

I think greediness is the nature of human but those that overcome this nature have had their character tested with fire of reality before they developed other ideas to replace greed

STEEM is backed by a thriving community and top-notch code. Steemit has intrinsic value - value contained within. Unlike the volatile price of STEEM, the intrinsic value of Steemit can only increase steadily over time. So trust in crypto as your good earning partner..Don't be like it will make you a millionaire overnight..trust it and have patience

Bitcoin will die sooner or later because of the slow transaction time and ridiculously high fees. there will come a time when bitcoin goes down and never gets back up.

Only the few who have other interests and will gladly settle for "just enough" seem to be able escape this. Some are just greedy for knowledge, or prefer woodwork or reading over the rat race, and stop accumulating money once they have enough to live off. They do exist, but they are few and far between in societies that increasingly express everything in terms of money.

Still, I prefer to sell high instead of watching my cryptocurrencies look shiny.

I really enjoyed your post man! I was literally about to write a post on this topic, so maybe I will and I'll mention your post in it! Greed is a survival trait needed by our more primitive ancestors. We have trained away because it is not necessarily needed to survive at this point in our society.

I like the psychological analysis you have done here. Presenting a different perspective on different perspectives almost.

I really appreciate this quote man. That's you, you sound like a man of stature, comparable to men like Carl Yung, Alan Watts, Alduous Huxley, and so many more. Keep creating, and don't stop helping the blind see.

It is said that Jesus cured a man of blindness, pretty solid man.

The simple rule I have to not get caught being "greedy" is once my investment more than doubles I sell half.

Now I am guaranteed to not lose money, while still having a position for further gain. Granted when things keep ripping people other people do better, but when we get that inevitable 50% correction I end up in better shape.

Nice post

The greatest impact on people because of crypto currency will be that people will b willing to concentrate on how to make sure they make a difference whether it being earning mountains or anything. And their focus will be on their own lives and not other people.
