I Tasted the New Diet Coke flavors and Here's What You Need to Know
This week Coca-Cola surprised the public with news of its latest innovation in sparkling beverages: brand new Diet Coke flavors packaged in tall, slender cans.
Mixed opinions flooded social media- some delighted and others skeptical.
Meanwhile, at Coke HQ we've been drinking these flashy new flavors, so I'll give you a preview of what to expect once the products hits the market:
Diet Coke Classic Flavor:
Same formula. Same taste. Same fluid oz per can. Fancy new package.
Ginger Lime:
Comparable taste to Diet Coke with Lime that's been in the market for years. Slight ginger aftertaste that freshens up the flavor. As a ginger lover, personally, I wish the kick of ginger was more prominent. Will I still drink this over Diet Coke with Lime? Totally- the spicy hint is a fun remix.
Twisted Mango:
First sip hits you strong with the mango, but in a good way! Fruity, refreshing, and unlike any other mango beverage I've tried. Looking forward to experimenting with this as a mixer.
Zesty Blood Orange:
Universally loved by everyone I've talked with around the office! It's really the perfect flavor accent for Diet Coke. This one will be flying off the shelves.
Feisty Cherry:
Everyone on Twitter is saying, "But wait, how is this different than Diet Coke with Cherry? Did they just rename it?!" Fear not- the flavor is a far cry from the original cherry. This new edition has an undeniable spice with an addictive tingling sensation that lingers on your tongue long after each sip. This flavor is hands down my favorite. I never thought I'd be one to trade in an original Diet Coke for a flavor, but this one might be even better than the classic!
Personal recommendation: while you're waiting for these flavors to launch in the market, try my homemade flavor mix: a bit of peppermint coffee syrup stirred into a classic Diet Coke is heavenly! The mint heightens the icy cold taste and reminds me of a peppermint patty.
