Livestock roam will be fined
LHOKSEUMAWE - As many as 50 gampongs in Meurah Mulia Sub-district, North Aceh, now have and run the qanun gampong on uniform livestock control. If cattle are found hanging around, the owner will be fined Rp 150 thousand for one bull, and Rp 75 thousand for one goat.
The information was disclosed by the Lhokseumawe Police Chief, AKBP Ari Lasta Irawan, through the Meurah Mulia Police Chief, Iptu Boestani SH MH to Serambi yesterday. It is said, funds from the fine will be used for social and religious activities in the village. "Alhamdulillah, nowadays it can be said that there are no more livestock roaming in our jurisdiction," said Iptu Boestani, and said that the qanun had been valid for two months in his district.
According to him, livestock roaming has become a classic problem that is very troubling. Besides being able to disrupt palawija crops, livestock also often cause traffic accidents. On this condition, continued Boestani, his side together with Muspika elements and 50 gampong devices agreed on the qanun on livestock control to be jointly implemented.
He explained, when he found cattle roaming, the team would immediately catch and put the animal in the cage provided. To take the livestock, the owner must pay the fine and make an agreement not to repeat again. "Because if you find it again, the amount of the fine will double," he said.
He hopes that the qanun that is currently in effect in all villages in Meurah Mulia District can be followed by other sub-districts. Because according to Boestani, livestock problems roam also occur in other sub-districts in North Aceh. "In other regions we also still see a lot of livestock roaming freely," he said.
Meurah Mulia police chief, Iptu Boestani SH MH added, the owners were obliged to take their livestock by paying fines on the day they were caught. If it is late for one day, then for the oxen the fine costs will increase by Rp. 50 thousand, and the goat will cost Rp. 25 thousand, and it will continue to apply. "If the owner does not take seven days, then the cattle will be auctioned off," he said.
