Sticks and Stones will break my bones... | Canada is Soft
Recent events in Toronto Canada have shown me that my country is run by leftist snowflakes and it breaks my heart.
When I grew up, I was overweight and my dad taught me to not let mockery hold me down, I remember hearing: "sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never hurt me." Sadly today in Canada we have grown soft and now we say things like, "hate speech has no place here", or Christian's are synonymous with "anti-LGBT".
Just look at this opinion piece from The Toronto Star.
Chick-fil-A is ideologically opposed to my existence

Sticks and Stones will break my bones...
It breaks my heart that my nation and its citizens are apparently so weak and soft that we now fear words. Hate speech is not a thing, and speech is not, and cannot be "violence". Speech is words, violence is action. Admittedly, speech can be used to arrange violence, but that is a crime.
Therefore any effort to denounce free speech on the basis that it is hate based is not only idiotic, its a sign of our growing softness.
It is OK if we do not agree. It is OK if we offend one another. It ought to be expected that reasonable people will disagree, vehemently, and that should be permissible, regardless of the topic. What's more, if we deny people space to express "bad ideas", we only worsen matters, because those ideas hidden from the light of public debate and scrutiny will fester and breed unabated. Only the light of reason and logic, applied through public discourse, can diminish the power of bad ideas, therefore we ought to encourage public debate about even the most offensive and taboo topics.
We used to believe and live out these truths. We used to debate and dialogue publicly, believing that the best ideas would prevail if afforded an opportunity, but no longer. Now we just vilify our opposition, and screech about "trigger warnings" and "points of privilege".
In conclusion, I'd just like to say, no matter the topic of conversation, any discomfort that words happen to cause, will never hurt me, nor you, and I strongly believe if we remember this, we will return to a bygone time wherein diversity of opinion is valued and encouraged.

Freedom of expression contemplates that every person can express an idea in anything, however we must also evaluate whether that idea does not violate the parameters of God, that is, what is written.
Of course, we are experiencing difficult times today and values are disappearing by leaps and bounds. If your perspective is that we have softened ourselves by caressing new trends or because now everything is summed up as violence, then you are right because the world is degenerating more and more as Matthew 24 says.
