17 people were killed, a few dozen were injured as a result of shooting at a school in the US state of Florida. The suspect - a 19-year-old former student of the school - was detained. According to police, the shooter, armed with a semi-automatic rifle, opened fire when the students began to leave the building at the end of the school day.
President of South Africa Jacob Zuma resigned. The resignation after nine years in office was preceded by allegations of corruption and conflict with the ruling party.
- Court of the city of Camden, the American state of New Jersey, sentenced two Russians for hacking. Arrested in the Netherlands, Vladimir Drinkman was sentenced to 12 years in prison, Dmitry Smilyanets was sentenced to four years, but was released in the courtroom - he served that sentence while in custody.
