North Tapanuli Regent Nikson Nababan made a prize contest of Rp. 10 million for residents who could catch the actors behind the death of dozens of livestock belonging to residents of Pohan Tonga Village, Siborong-borong District.

The contest was made because of the death of farm animals ranging from chickens, ducks to pigs mysteriously died.

According to him, based on the story of the ancestors, similar events were caused by the homang, or gibbons, who like to take kittens to be brought into the forest.

"Therefore, at this time, we are together with the North Sumatra Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BBKSDA), the TNI and Polri, as well as our community to hunt, every day hunting for animals if they are animals," he said.

"I decided to give the term spirit to people who want to search. They can calm the community, anticipate the community by hunting. By doing so, it is hoped that these animals can be caught, may be stressed or what," he said.

Is the sun bear the culprit?

Nikson added, initially had suspected that the bear was a honey bear.

However, he doubted because even though there were traces resembling a sun bear like what happened on the ground or in a tree.

"But once again, honey bears consume honey, not blood or meat. There is literature, something like that might be a crazy dog, as happened in Ukraine. But for sure we are looking for it," he said.

From the photos circulating, livestock that died in the village of Pohan Tonga, Siborong-borong District, North Tapanuli, the condition is shocking.
