Coinbase, funded in 2012 is one of the largest cryptocurrency exchange in the world, having raised $117 million dollars to date. Yet Coinbase has always only supported one cryptocurrency - bitcoin.

But that changes today. Coinbase is allowing its users to to buy and sell ether, the token of Ethereum blockchain.
