The social network has always been limited to 140 characters per tweet, which means that if you added an image and a link you would have almost no space to add more words. Thanks to their changes, multimedia messages, such as photos and videos, can be added to tweets without consuming the 140-character limit.

In addition, it will also change the way conversations between users are presented. Twitter has struggled over the last year to attract new users to its platform, and the problem with the lack of results is attributed to the fact that the tool is confusing. Twitter is planning a few other changes, which are as follows:

• What we have already mentioned, the multimedia elements attached, such as photos and videos, will no longer count towards the 140-character limit.

• The use of other users' names in responses to other tweets will no longer be counted. Previously, every time you responded to a tweet, you had to mention the person'@username + message', so that the name also counted for the 140 characters, with this change that name will no longer mean a decrease in the famous number.

• Users will be able to cite and retain their own tweets.

• Any new tweet that is not in response to a message from another person and that begins with the name of the user of another person can be viewed by all the followers of that person. That is, if "@User1" makes a Tweet for "@User2", "@User2" followers will also be able to see that tweet without having to follow "@User1".

This last change puts an end to one of the most puzzling systems on Twitter: tweets that started with the user's name could only be seen by the followers of the person who wrote the message. To circumvent this rule, however, users could add a dot to their tweets as follows:'.@username".

These changes have already been announced but will not be implemented immediately, but later this year or later, giving developers the opportunity to integrate the new standards into third-party apps and Web pages.
