Baidu Releases Stock-Based Photo Blockchain Services

The prevalent blockchain technology used in various cyrptocurrencies is not only applicable to virtual currencies alone, but also to other applications such as photo stock services recently deployed by Baidu.

Like cryptocurrency, a service called Totem stores photo copyright information into blockchain alias recording transactions (ledger) are arranged chronologically, decentralized, and permanent.

As a result, the ownership status of each photo can always be traced to the owner who really entitled to the work in question. This is expected to reduce the occurrence of copyright infringement in the form of photo theft.

"Baidu uses a combination of artificial intelligence mapping technology to ensure each work can be traced, reproduced and monitored," Baidu said in a statement summarized KompasTekno from The Next Web, Tuesday (17/4/2018).
