This 60-year-old Chinese farmer studied law for 16 years to fight the chemical firm polluting his land

In 2001 Wang Enlin, a Chinese farmer found that a large state owned chemical company disposing its waste into his farmland. Wang has approached local government authorities first, but he was dismissed by asking him to produce evidences for his claims. He knows the land is getting polluted and becoming a barren day by day. Every time he approached agencies he got dismissed by citing some weird rules.

Fed up with the attitudes of authorities the man from the land of communism decides to take matters into his own hands. Even though Wang had just been to school for only 3 years, he decided to study all the laws that might be useful for his case. This intense preparation went on for 16 years. Wang couldn’t even afford to buy the law books himself, he went to the local bookshop and read all the books noted all points all in exchange of a bag full of corn. His efforts were rewarded in 2007 when a big Chinese legal firm decided to assist Wang and his neighbors with their case and also agreed to help him file a petition in the court. After about 10 years of legal battle in 2017 Wang and his villagers won their case teaching us an important lesson “Where there is a will, there is always a way.
