A white guy (or light skinned Hispanic who will be called white if he is the shooter) shooting white people with a legal gun is big news (unless they botch the op somehow like in Vegas) because that serves a gun control narrative. There are profiles of the victims and they make the shooters famous household names.

Black people shooting each other with illegal guns, which is sadly typical, ruins the gun control narrative, they occasionally report weekend totals when they set records in Chicago or Baltimore, never profiles of those victims or offenders because if there were people would realize that most of the time, either directly or indirectly, the cause was that drugs are illegal, not that guns are legal.
