What is a mandatory reporter?
Making a legal report to CPS based on reasonably suspected neglect, abuse, or endangerment is not harassment. It is not illegal. And it is required by law to do so. If you fail to report suspicion of maltreatment or endangerment, etc... and something bad happens to the child then you can and will be found guilty if proven you had prior knowledge.
In the state of Michigan the government requests that:

Primary problems with child abusers is that they haven't a clue what proper care is and don't realize the negligence they show to others. Of course it should be reported as external 'eyes' are the childs only defense.

Very informative post about the mandatory reporters. Child abusing is an alarming social problem that has to be rectified asap. This post will help the residents of Michigan a lot. I will never stand by and watch something that is questionable when there is a child involved.
in some countries everyone is required to step up and report crime and assist when possible or be charged for negligence and or abandonment.
Every suspicious acts towards children should be reported by anyone. It is the childs only defence against an abuser. Let the CPS investigate and deceide whether action needs to be taken or not.
