This is the hole the size of a country that has opened in Antarctica
As big as a country such as Portugal, so is the newly discovered hole in the winter sea ice cover around Antarctica.
This opening, known as polinia (an open space of water surrounded by sea ice), is the largest observed in the Weddell Sea since the 1970s.
Giant Polynesia
a polynesia allows the atmosphere and the ocean to exchange heat and humidity, which leads to significant impacts on the climate.
Kent Moore, of the University of Toronto Mississauga, is collaborating with members of the Southern Observatory and Carbon Modeling and Observing (SOCCOM) project, and part of this project goes on to use lots of robotic profiles capable of operating under the sea ice han state deployed in the region during the last years.
Excellent post, very well articulated. thank you so much.
