China Plans Bullet Train To India Under The BCIM Economic Corridor
Chinese Consul General to the Kolkata(India) announced that china is looking forward to plan bullet trains from Kolkata(India) to Kunming City( China) through the Bangladesh and Myanmar(expected). Proposal is 2,800 KM long rail link between Kunming and Kolkata .
According to Chinese Consul General it will take only few hours to reach from Kunming to Kolkata if the rail link becomes a reality. .jpg)
BCIM Economic Corridor (Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar Economic Corridor)
It is a multi model transport corridor with the aim to connect India(Kolkata) and China(Kunming) via Bangladesh(Dhaka) and Myanmar(Mandalay).the idea was given a shape in the form of BCIM forum in 1999 in the first "Kunming Initiative",the capital of chinese yunnan province.
Importance of BCIM-
China will obtain one more route bypassing the Straight of Malacca.
tourism will get a boost.
BCIM offers India an opportunity to create it's own win-win relationship with china.
India will benefit in terms of development of the Kolkata port and the opening up of the economic potential of the Northeast state of Inda.
