Constellation Network awarded contract to provide blockchain security to DoD data systems

Constellation Network has been awarded a contract to provide encrypted blockchain security to military-commercial partners’ data sharing systems.

The network has made several strategic partnerships to advance its mission, including partnering with Kinnami Software firm.

Blockchain ecosystem Constellation Network is applying blockchain cryptographic technology to secure military data collected on a global scale. This will happen through the network’s Hypergraph Transfer Protocol (HGTP) which will be employed in the military’s digital infrastructure. HGTP provides a more secure alternative to exchanging data compared to HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol).

Importantly, Constellation developed end-to-end encryption and distributed data management in collaboration with Kinnami Software Corporation. The firm provides a hybrid and resilient data fabric ensuring the availability and security of complex distributed data management environments.

To advance its mission, Constellation has partnered with USTRANSCOM, which operates in over 80 percent of all countries. Being one of the largest data creators worldwide means it holds large amounts of sensitive data from highly contested areas. Other partners are Air Mobility Command (AMC), AMC’s 618 Air Operations Center (AOC), and a Civil Reserve Air Fleet (CRAF) representative.

Constellation’s technology can therefore be implemented widely in data exchange among commercial partners in the Defense Transportation System (DTS). Constellation is also useful in improving cyber security and the operational effectiveness of its partners.

Constellation and DoD operational security

Lt Col Tharon Sperry, Deputy Director of Strategy for the 618th AOC stated;

"Being able to quickly and securely exchange information across the 618 AOC’s digital infrastructure is critical to our operational security. Equipping our airmen with the tools they need to coordinate mission details while protecting the integrity of our global operations, has long been a critical factor when providing 24/7 command and control to mobility forces.

We’re thankful for the support we receive from our civilian partners and will continue to look to the future when it comes to improving our data security."

More so, Constellation will provide software to enable systems and access requirements. This showcases its data assurance capabilities and its improved auditable security. These allow cost-efficient and scalable operations without altering the existing IT system.

To access the network, the Federal Government uses Constellation’s native currency $DAG to secure bandwidth on the network. Constellation, along with several stakeholders from DoD agencies and a representative CRAF partner came up with the multi-domain operation.

Benjamin Diggles, Constellation’s co-founder said that the adoption of blockchain has been very lacklustre due to slow and costly networks. “This contract opens the door to bigger, more critical uses of blockchain for data protection in a global digital infrastructure, bringing forth the true promises of the core technology,” he added. Sujeesh Krishnan, Kinnami CEO expressed his thrill in working together with Constellation to bring data security to external mission partners.

Of note, Constellation’s creation marks a significant step in utilizing blockchain for securing something as crucial and complex as data. Traditional decentralized networks lack the security necessary for sensitive data exchange and they also have high transaction fees. Constellation is now the first blockchain company in the world to use blockchain tech in a data system of this magnitude.
