My response to the return of mandatory face diapers in healthcare settings
The Covid masks (which did little or nothing against Covid) are back here in BC, Canada - because it's Winter, and people get respiratory infections in Winter. Not because there's another scary Covid variant out there (they tried that in 2023 and 2024 and it flopped), but just because it's dark and cold, and that's when people often get infectious illnesses. I have 3 responses to this garbage:
(Source: CBC, where 80% of the images are of black people, even though less than 5% of our population is black.)
- This is stupid bullshit.
- I worked as a nurse in acute healthcare settings (hospital inpatient units) all through the 2000s, which encompassed avian and swine flu pandemics. We did not wear masks. The only exception was during surgeries, to prevent droplets of saliva from entering the sterile field, and when inside an airtight isolation chamber. I probably wore a mask 6 or 7 times in my career. Masks were almost NEVER used in 99% of healthcare settings until 2020.
- Vitamin D supplementation in dark Winter months reduces infectious illnesses FAR better than face diapers.
I will not be wearing another pointless/dangerous mask, and it's not just because I have heart problems and shortness of breath. I only wore a mask a few times during Covid - like when my daughter was born and there was no other way to get into the building. Fuck this dogmatic unscientific political fuckery! That is all.
