Litecoin (LTC) Becomes Professional Kickboxing League's Official Cryptocurrency
On Wednesday (February 27th), Litecoin Foundation announced a partnership deal with Glory Kickboxing, which operates one of the world's premier professional kickboxing leagues. As a result, Litecoin (LTC) becomes the league's official cryptocurrency. Glory Kickboxing, which is headquartered in Singapore, the same country as Litecoin Foundation, is a private company owned by Glory Sports International Pte Ltd., which has signed many of the world's top kickboxers such as Dutch figher Rico Verhoeven and Brazilian fighter Alex Pereira. After Glory had its first kickboxing event in the U.S. in New York on 22 June 2013, "Spike TV signed a multi-year agreement to broadcast Glory kickboxing events."
The Spike TV deal "was extended in May 2014 to cover 2015." In February 2016, "Glory announced a new multi-year deal with ESPN." And In 2017, "Glory initiated partnerships with the UFC for events on pay-per-view and on UFC Fight Pass." Litecoin Foundation's press release says that as a result of this partnership, "Litecoin is now accepted as a payment method" on Glory's online shop , thereby allowing Glory to become "the first professional sports league to integrate Litecoin into the end-to-end fan experience."
The non-profit organization Litecoin Foundation, which has Charlie Lee, the creator of Litecoin, as its managing director, "sees these types of partnerships as opportunities to tap into passionate audiences around the globe and educate them on the power of Litecoin". Glory's fans in U.S. and Europe "will soon be able to access exclusive offers, including athlete meet-and-greets, backstage arena tours, limited-edition merchandise and premium in-arena seating, only available for purchase at GLORYshop.com with Litecoin." Litecoin will benefit from "global exposure across GLORY events, broadcast and social media." Charlie Lee said had this to say about this new partnership:
“GLORY has a growing worldwide fan base that consists in large part of a younger demographic who are early adopters of technology and conduct much of their lives online – from consuming content to purchasing products. As GLORY continues to grow, tapping into their global audience and educating them about Litecoin through real world use cases can be powerful. ”
And former UFC executive Marshall Zelaznik, the CEO of Glory Sports International, had this to say:
“A partnership with Litecoin, which offers one of the fastest transaction confirmation speeds of any cryptocurrency, makes perfect sense for GLORY and our fans as we continue to put on the fastest fight action in the combat sports world. With both companies also being young, dynamic and achieving consistent growth, GLORY could not have found a more fitting cryptocurrency partner.”
In related news, today, the Litecoin Foundation also announced another interesting partnership, this time with "K-Pop concert production company, C&U Entertainment Global, to promote Litecoin (LTC) through the upcoming Feel the K-Pop concert." The concert will be taking place "on April 6th at EagleBank Arena on the campus of George Mason University." The Litecoin Foundation "has reserved ULTRA VIP tickets that will be exclusively available to purchase using Litecoin." (These tickets "will soon be available on the Litecoin Foundation’s website.")
