    If we're using the meddafore of death, Trump has been shoving a gun down his throat for the last year.

    Three days ago Trump said Obama and Clinton are the founders of Isis. Two days ago, when conservative radio talkshow host hugh hewit tried to reframe Trumps comment by saying Trump meant Obama created the situation in Iraq and Syria that allowed Isis to rise, Trump insisted he meant the statement literally.
    Then, this morning, after having said Obama and Clinton were the founders of Isis at three different ralleys, he tweeted that he was being sarcastic and CNN was taking the words of the Republican nominee for president to seriously.

    Five days ago, 50 Republicans going back to the Nixon administration published an open letter declaring Trump unfit to be president. http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2016/08/08/us/politics/national-security-letter-trump.html?_r=0

    My point with this long reply is that CNN is treating Trump like this because he's running a campaign that in laymans terms I'd describe as crazier than a shithouse rat.
