Would Bitcoin be worth anything had this not happened? This was the first purchase made, proving the concept. I will argue if he didn't buy the pizza, we may not be here...
I absolutely agree with you! That actually resulted in increased awareness of Bitcoin's existence. This ultimately made people buy more bitcoins and now we are seeing the prices as bitcoin price calculation works on demand and supply principle.
