One of three US citizens who were released from North Korean prison on Thursday (10/05/2018) requested a special request during the return trip by plane.
When the plane landed in Alaska for fuel, one of them asked to get out of the US State Department's fleet.
The goal, to see the sunlight that has long never been witnessed.
Kim Dong-chul, Kim Hak-song, and Kim Sang-duk, arrive at Andrews Joint Air Force Base in Maryland.
His third arrival was welcomed by US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump.
Based on US Vice President Mike Pence, before landing in Maryland, the plane briefly refueled in Anchorage, Alaska, at 6pm local time.
"The foreign minister told me when the plane refueled in Anchorage, one of them asked to get out of the plane because it had not seen the sun for a long time," he said.
However, he did not mention the name of the man who asked to get out of the plane.
Under the duration of his detention, Kim Dong-chul spent the longest time in jail. During his time in detention, he had to undergo hard labor.
He was arrested in 2015 on charges of espionage for South Korea.
The three men released from North Korea are US citizens of South Korean descent.
Kim Hak-song was arrested at the train station in 2017, one month after Kim Sang-duk was arrested.
The release of the three became the latest indicator of increasing ties between the West and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
