ECB, Bank Of Japan Publish Findings On Project Stella Phase 2

On Tuesday, the European Central Bank and the Bank of Japan released a joint report on part two of Project Stella, which focused on securities settlement systems: delivery versus payment (DvP) in a distributed ledger environment. Although securities settlement is conceptually possible in single-ledger or cross-ledger DvP systems, the banks said that additional study would be required.

Trading Opens On Crypto Exchange Giant Huobi In South Korea

Trading has officially opened in South Korea on the Beijing-born Huobi crypto exchange, according to Huobi Group’s official announcement March 30.

Huobi’s new South Korean subsidiary supports 100 altcoins and trading on 208 markets (77 ETH markets, 98 BTC markets, and 33 USDT markets).

Capitalization of Cryptocurrency Markets Loses 59% in Q1 2018

The first quarter of 2018 dealt heavy losses to the cryptocurrency markets, with Coinmarketcap data indicating that the capitalization of the combined crypto markets has dropped by 59% since the start of January. Q1 2018 has also been among the bloodiest quarters in recent memory for the bitcoin markets – with BTC suffering an approximately 50% loss in value since the start of 2018. Despite bitcoin’s heavy drop, it has performed better than many leading altcoins – many which have slumped by over 70% since January.

120 Million? Vitalik Proposes Cap on Ether Cryptocurrency

In a new ethereum improvement proposal (EIP) authored April 1, the cryptocurrency's creator issued his latest thoughts on the matter, posing to developers and software users that the maximum supply of ether, the network's cryptocurrency, be set at 120,204,432, "or exactly 2x the amount of ether" sold in its original sale in 2014 in a forthcoming software change.
