My album of the recent Tsunami in Greenland (Nuugatsiaq and Illorsuit)

in #news7 years ago

Dear steemers'
I would like to share you this sad story of two small communities in Greenland that was destroyed because of a Tsunami that hit Saturday after a landslide. Greenland is part of the Kingdom of Denmark and therefor Danish military used its ships and airplanes to support and rescue the people in need.

In the last picture you see people from Nuugatsiaq getting evakuated with the ship F359 Vædderen

4 People are still missing, and its unlikely that the 101 people living in Nuugatsiaq will ever be able to return.

Wow! A new NEWS and story... i did not know that there is something happened in another part of earth... resteemd and upvoted!

Really sad to know the destruction the tsunami caused 😮
Sometimes mother nature shows its power, to prove the humans wrong - ruling over other flora and fauna....and bring us down to the humbleness of just being another powerless creature on earth ☹️

I find it amazing that this is the only place I've seen this, horrible. Living in the gulf south we have hurricanes we deal with...God bless the victims of this tragedy.

Really a big tragedy..... crazy to see giant blocks of ice trowed here and there..

So sad to hear that.

Congratulations ! Your post has been highlighted in the Daily Travel Reports

Great images that give me an idea of what the tragedy must have been like. It amazes that people are living in such a remote wilderness.
