RE: Trump Administration Orders Pentagon To Prepare Military Bases For 20,000 Unaccompanied Children and Their Families What Could Go Wrong?

in #news7 years ago

Respectfully, I disagree with the majority of this post, yet I'm torn because you bring up many valid points.

What Trump has done with that executive order has made it so that the people that are human trafficking in children, using the children pretending they are their parents in order to more likely get through the border. Where, unfortunate as it is to those who show up with their actual families, will ensure that the children are actually with the parents, and keep the parents around until the testing can be done.

There was also the December 21st executive order which this ties into, because child traffickers we'll also have all their assets stripped from them.

The better question to ask instead of looking at how to handle illegal immigrants and their families would be to ask ourselves how the circumstances in these other countries are so horrible that people are willing to risk the lives of their children to escape.?

That said, you are absolutely correct about dyncorp and their abusive history. The sad part is that is only one of the surfaces that has been scratched at over the years.

Sort:

"What Trump has done with that executive order that are human trafficking in children, using the children pretending they are their parents in order to more likely get through the border." That's not true, what he has done is now ordered the Pentagon to make preparations for at least 20,000+ children on military bases after everyone complained about his child internment camps for migrants. Putting children unattended on a military base now with their parents locked up instead of separating them. Although, that's still separation.

"The better question to ask instead of looking at how to handle illegal immigrants and their families would be to ask ourselves how the circumstances in these other countries are so horrible that people are willing to risk the lives of their children to escape.?"

People are only illegal under governments laws. Some people are born into poverty or war zones gang territory etc. and they seek to escape and start a new life.

Not only Dyncorp, Presidio too and there are probably far more cases.

  • That is a bit of the point; by keeping the parents locked up and the parents separated, it allows verification that the children are with their ACTUAL parents. Suppose that a child was kidnapped to be used as a pawn to get through, a test verifies that fact, now there is no need to track down the person. We can disagree, but it seems the best balance between enforcing laws while protecting individuals.

I think we can agree that it is an ugly situation, but, this isn't like with Bush where he is allowing these things to go on.

"People are only illegal under governments laws. Some people are born into poverty or war zones gang territory etc. and they seek to escape and start a new life."

  • It is NOT the PEOPLE that are illegal, it is their actions that are illegal. You do understand that there are many countries where similar actions would be met by gunning down the entire crowd, right?? That's why I point out that the better question involves how come their homes are in such disarray that escape is their only perceived option.

Are you aware of the damage that causes when there is a drain on the smart people and the people with wealth from a country?

"Not only Dyncorp, Presidio too and there are probably far more cases."

  • Definitely; Consider, these organizations want to maintain that status quo. The people travelling make for easy victims with nowhere to turn for justice. That's why over 80% of women making the trip are raped en route, among the horrid stats on that border.
