Dejan incessant rains Floods in Moscow
A record rainfall for mid-August in Moscow, with more than twice the rainfall that the day of the earlier mark has left streets flooded and closed to traffic, a river overflowed and more than 200 people evacuated from cars and buses stranded on the water .
In less than 24 hours of incessant rain, which began shortly after midnight last, already gathered in Moscow more than 50 millimeters of rainfall per square meter, when the previous record set 130 years ago, was in 25,2 mm.
In some areas of the Russian capital pedestrians it had to cross the street with the water waist, as seen in photographs published by Russian media.
The Yauza River, one of the largest rivers of Moscow, has burst its banks and caused flooding trails in the northeast of the city.
The situation may worsen in the coming hours, since the weather forecasts suggest that the rain will not stop as little until later today.
The city authorities have assured that drainage systems "were built to a level of normal rainfall" and have no ability to cope with heavy rains as those given in recent years.
