Want Insight Into Mainstream Media Stupidity? Look At the Response to Theresa May's Speech!
The slide of the mainstream media continues, falling into folly and irrelevance. The rise of the internet means that people can witness the stupidity they drip feed us, which is why the Fake News narrative remains such an indelible trend among CNN, the BBC, and their allies. Modern news channels and papers have devolved into little better than wooden spoon stirring gossip rags and nowhere did this attitude rear its useless head more than reactions to the close of yesterday's Conservative Party Conference, when Theresa May gave her speech.
A genuine comedy of errors allowed the mainstream media to crow with delight, braying at what this means and the symbolism with how it equals the Conservative's weakness and Mrs May's failings. I am no fan of the Prime Minister or the Tories, but media sensationalism is what it does best. A popular saying goes: "politics is showbiz for ugly people," one could regard journalism as "showbiz for crap actors." What else explains the manufactured melodrama governing the final day of the Conservative Party Conference in Manchester? The Prime Minister administered the closing address before a gathered assembly of Conservative Party members and MPs. Although beginning well enough, Mrs May's speech was interrupted by comedian Simon Brodkin - posing as a journalist - who handed the Prime Minister a P45 (a notification of termination of employment for you non-Brits), pretending to act on behalf of Boris Johnson (the current Foreign Secretary). Theresa May handled this prank well, quipping that the comedian should be handing the P45 to Jeremy Corbyn instead, then her cough began. Spluttering damaged her voice and the Chancellor, Phillip Hammond, gave the Prime Minister a lozenge, finally her address culminated in the letter F falling from the display at the back.
Gather the carrion media that appear all too happy to dissect the failings in Mrs May's speech like they would dismantle a sheet of toilet paper, as the explanations are that simple. The comedian incident speaks more of security lapses rather than any fault of the Prime Minister, the coughing implies the strained voice of a woman continually speaking - plus it is autumn and colds grow more common - and a letter drops from the set, a random error = apocalypse for journalists. Who should rear their head to gloat, but The Guardian's darling, Owen Jones, a man that walks off sets when things fail to go his way, lauds this incident as a metaphor for the Tory Party's destruction and infighting. In reality, the Conservatives know they must remain intact because no other option exists, apart from the deluded socialist cabal of Comrade Corbyn, whose Messiah Complex would get genuinely out of control if he got the keys to Number 10, Downing Street! One thing the Conservative Party can do better than Labour is playing the long game, ousting Thatcher only occurred when the Tory defectors knew the Iron Lady had caused herself to rust with the Poll Tax introduction - their government lasting seven years after that before Tony Blair's victory. Furthermore, the rumours of infighting in the party are greatly exaggerated. Of course, Boris Johnson desires the position of Prime Minister, as do others, it is called ambition, and I am tired of this image that political parties must form one cohesive unit, disagreement lies at the heart of making change.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump has stirred the ire of Hillary's baying pack of media again, over his response to the hurricane in Puerto Rico. The bulk of the censure lies around the images of the President tossing out what appears as packets of kitchen towels to the crowd. Memes flower across the hinterlands of cyberspace in eager criticism of Trump, showing his three predecessors to the White House, Obama, Bush and Clinton responding to natural disasters, hugging victims. According to the mainstream media, embracing a carefully selected "victim," showing they care, works much better than a lively meeting to help boost the cheer and revive spirits by handing out supplies. However, narrative rules the press rather than a love and thirst to share the facts and the fact is that we can see this now, we will also enjoy continuing to watch its deterioration into history.
