Historical Today, Croatian players Died of Concrete Bumps While Competing

On April 3, 2008 Croatian footballer, Hrvoje Custic, died in his hometown, Zadar, Croatia.

Custic is not a well-known player, he is only a career at local club Zadar and NK Zagreb from 2000 until the end of his life in 2008.

Although not famous but the death of Custic to be a worrying event for Croatian football.

The reason Custic died after he was involved in the incident when competing in the field match.

The incident happened five days before he died, exactly on March 29, 2008.

The 24-year-old Zadar midfielder who hosted the Hibk Cibalia opponent in Croatia's first caste League.

In the game Custic suffered a severe head injury after crashing into a concrete border field and the stands while fighting the ball with the opponent.

Custic was immediately rushed to the local hospital and operated on the same night.

Coming into a coma Custic condition was stable until April 2, 2008.

However, his condition worsened on the afternoon of April 3, 2009 after the hospital confirmed Custic brain dead (brain dead).
