There was an explosion of oil wells in Pasir Putih Village, Rantau Perlak Sub-district, East Aceh Regency, Wednesday (25/4/2018) at around 01.30 WIB. According to information received from one of the residents in Gampong Pasir Putih, the chronology of the fire occurred that on Wednesday (25/04/2018) approximately at 00.00 pm had exit oil from a well drilled traditionally owned Zainabah land. Telah terjadi ledakan sumur minyak di Desa Pasir Putih Kecamatan Rantau Perlak Kabupaten Aceh Timur, Rabu (25/4/2018) sekitar pukul 01.30 WIB. Akibatnya, diketahui sebanyak 19 orang mengalami luka bakar, 5 rumah hangus terbakar, serta 10 orang meninggal dunia. Sumur minyak tersebut merupakan sumur minyak yang digarap secara tradisional oleh Nazar yang merupakan pemilik sumur dan beberapa orang penggali lainnya.
Ledakan sumur tersebut mengakibatkan semburan api setinggi 100 Meter dan dilokasi ledakan ditemukan sejumlah korban, baik yang meninggal dunia maupun luka-luka. Diantara korban tersebut terdapat Saudara Nazar pemilik sumur bersama korban lainnya yang diduga masyarakat yang tengah menggali sumur minyak secara tradisional.
Menurut informasi yang diterima dari salah seorang warga di Gampong Pasir Putih, kronologi kebakaran terjadi bahwa pada Rabu (25/4/2018) sekira pukul 00.00 WIB telah keluar minyak dari sumur yang dibor secara tradisional dilahan milik Zainabah. Selain minyak ternyata sumur tersebut juga mengeluarkan gas, lalu disaat bersamaan datang sekelompok warga untuk mengambil minyak yang keluar dengan cara di leles. Adapun sekelompok orang yang sedang mencari minyak mentah tersebut berjumlah lebih dari 10 orang. Maksud dan tujuan dari warga yang datang kelokasi guna mengambil tumpahan minyak yang tidak tertampung dan setelah beberapa lama tepatnya pukul 01.30 WIB terjadi ledakan yang menimbulkan kebakaran yang mengakibatkan semburan api setinggi 10 Meter dan 10 orang warga termasuk pemilik sumur yang berada dilokasikejadian hangut terpanggang api.
Menurut Kepala Pusat Data Informasi dan Humas Badan Penanggulangan Bencana (BNPB), Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, bahwa kejadian itu telah merengut 10 orang korban meninggal dunia dilokasi kejadian yaitu
- Nazarullah (30) warga Dusun Bakti Pasi Puteh Kec Rantau Peureulak,
- Afrizal alias Doyok (35) warga Desa Punti Payong Kecamatan Rantau Peureulak,

Sementara itu, 19 orang korban luka-luka terdiri dari,

Sungguh tragis dan sangat memilukan, semoga korban yang meninggal dunia mendapat tempat yang layak disisi Allah SWT dan bagi keluarga yang ditinggalkan diberi ketabaha. Kepada korban yang mengalami luka-luka agar dapat ditangani sebaik mungkin pada rumah sakit yang menampung korban tersebut. Dan pemerintah dapat memberi bantuan kepada korban yang rumahnya terbakar baik bantuan bahan makanan maupun tempat penapungan sementara sebelum adanya pembangunanrumah bantuan yang layak.
