Sri Lankan batsmen showed their intent to take lead in the first Test against Bangladesh despite the Tigers' 500-plus total in the first innings.
The visitors scored 504 for the loss of 3 wickets at the end of day three of the first Test at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong on Friday. Bangladesh batsmen put 513 runs on board in their first innings.
The Tigers' tormentors were Kusal Mendis who fell four of short of a double century (196) and Dhananjaya de Silva who made 173 runs.
Only nine runs shy of the Bangladesh total, Sri Lanka's Roshen Silva with unbeaten on 87 and skipper Dinesh Chandimal with 37 not-out will resume their innings on Saturday.
The home side's Mustafizur Rahman, Taijul Islam and Mehidy Hasan got a wicket apiece.
