Smart Leaders Meet to Resolve Issues, Not Run Away from it
If the issue in the Azov Sea was not a deliberate provocation by NATO, it would have been resolved in any sort of mutual communication between the same speaking neighboring countries Ukraine and Russia. But because it was a blunt provocation to sabotage the summit between Trump and Putin, it only escalated by NATO's member states.

Believe it or not, post its intervention in Syria upon the request of the Syrian government, Russia is not the same it was 10 years ago, it's the rising superpower, stocking gold, reaching self-sufficiency thanks for the western sanctions, and flexing its muscles against the Western powers and their cronies worldwide, especially in the hot areas, after a long hibernation.
Whole of Europe plus Turkey stood beside Ukraine against Russia after they took over Ukraine with the colored revolution, the result? Russia took over the most strategic Crimea peninsula.
Over 120 countries supported the Western intervention against Syria, including the super rich and the super powerful, the result? Half a million deaths among civilians in Syria, several millions displaced, more than 200 billion dollars wasted, and Russia and its allies are more powerful.
The west should come to terms that they're not the only mega players in the world, they were when the USSR collapsed, they had their chance in ruling the world and they failed miserably. Now they have to deal with other superpowers like Russia and China, and rising regional powers like Iran and India, to name a couple.
Running away from sitting and resolving issues is the weak's attitude, not the strong one's.
