BEIRUT, LEBANON (9:00 A.M.) - The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) launched on Sunday a big attack on a Euphrates River Valley town that is occupied by the Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL/IS/Daesh) terror group.

Backed by U.S. airstrikes, the Syrian Democratic Forces began their assault on Sunday by storming the Islamic State's positions inside Abu Khater.

According to local reports, the Syrian Democratic Forces were able to score a big advance against the Islamic State militants, resulting in the capture of several points inside the town.

The Syrian Democratic Forces were reportedly able to establish a foothold inside of Abu Khater, paving the way for their troops to reach the town-center.

For the Syrian Democratic Forces, capturing Abu Khater is an imperative endeavor because it will ultimately help them secure the key town of Hajin, which they seized earlier this month.
