ISIS pulverized by Russian air-launched missiles during massive raid in Deir Ezzor area
BEIRUT, LEBANON (7:37 A.M.) – It has been a devastating night for ISIS forces stationed in and around the strategic city of Deir Ez-Zor with both the Russian Aerospace Forces (RuAF) and the Syrian Arab Air Force (SyAAF) carrying out a tireless number of sorties that targeted the terrorist group’s positions and bases.
The identification, location and prioritization of all ISIS targets struck in raids tonight was the result of a rigorous intelligence gathering by pro-government forces which included the use of drones and local spies in the Deir Ezzor area.
The highlight of the pro-government air raids was in the RuAF’s targeting of a number of ISIS bases in the towns of Gharaneej (east of Deir Ezzor), Al-Sour (north of the city) and Huwyjat Saqr (southeast of the city) with air-launched guided missiles. The RuAF scored direct hits on the bases and destroyed multiple vehicles as well as 2 mortar sites used by the terrorist group.
Nonetheless, the SyAAF also had its role to play. In concert with Russian efforts, Syrian airpower targeted ISIS positions in the Thardah mountain range and at the Panorama farms, destroying 4 pickup trucks
Lastly, a key command-and-control target was struck and neutralized. Though it is unknown which air force conducted the attack, there are reports that the Al-Wahda Al-Irshadiyah Building in the town of Baqrs was destroyed. It was at this location that pro-government intelligence assets identified a big meeting between ISIS commanders.
The results of the raid in terms of who was killed or injured remains unknown for now.
