#colorfulphotography: It's Always About "The Ride"
It’s always about “The Ride”...
My home is the beautiful City of Calgary, abundant with natural and man-made beauty! Whether its streetscapes, landscapes, skyscapes, its massive Prairie sun or the bluest of blue Alberta skies, there is no shortage of gorgeous photo-capture opportunities. Today was yet another beautiful day in the Foothills of the Rockies!
Urgently needing to unplug from a wonderfully packed week, my Bestie, @bluescan and I, did what we do - headed out to any or no particular place, to walk! The destination is rarely important.
For me, it’s ALWAYS about “The Ride"! The destination is a "bonus"! During "The Ride", we are deliberate in making memories and enjoying every single minute we are gifted. Photo-taking and sweet music during "The Ride" are what we use to do just that – capture and make memories!
So today, we headed out to enjoy a cold, bright, blue-sky Calgary day!
DRIVE-BYS ...
Drive-Bys are one of my favorite methods to take photos! This involves hanging out of (sometimes precariously), a moving vehicle and shouting, “Shoot” to the voice-activated Galaxy S7 (safely tethered to my wrist)! It’s highly unattractive and might even be driver-distracting, but I am always surprised and usually delighted by what “She” captures!
The Blue photo below is the Original, unedited “Drive-By” along Memorial Drive, SE, Calgary.
PHONE ART …
“Playing with” Original captures is pure delightful! PhotoEditor and ToolWiz were the phone apps I used to color and “morph” the Original blue shot into the Orange shots (below)!
These apps allow a person to take good or bad original shots and “do something more”! Results are ALWAYS a surprise – sometimes pleasant, other times not! I was pleased with these …

I love these photos!! I'm actually from Vancouver, but spent a year in Edmonton and have family in Calgary. Calgary really is a beautiful city, especially on this day in your blog, but I guess, just don't blink because it may change haha
I love your idea about the "ride" also; that's the way my husband and I have always been, especially road trips! We have a general destination in mind, but the journey is always awesome. Here's hoping your journey here on steemit is an awesome one too...I'm sure it will be:) Cheers!

Oh you're welcome! We actually moved Playa del Carmen about 9 months ago! My husband's health isn't great (not sure if you saw our posts), so we made the move to better climate.
So very sorry to hear about your husband's health condition, @lynncoyle1 and happy a move to a different geographic location gives him reprieve! Has it been better for him? How much of an adjustment has it been for you living in Mexico and away from Canada? Do you get home often? So glad to meet you here!
I'm so sorry, but I somehow missed this;) The change has been awesome, the hot weather is a lot better for us both. He unfortunately has cancer and is not doing well; his name is @briancourteau...he writes a lot about it in his poetry. I sometimes respond to them on my blog...have a look, it'll explain a lot. I'm glad I met you too here :)
They say it’s not about the destination but the journey there. Sounds like you have a great time on the ride with good company. Be sure you are safe doing your drive-bys! Precarious positions out a moving vehicle doesn’t sound too safe (mommy in me shaking my head).
Photos look great. You turned a complex into one surrounded by water. It’s pretty cool!

I have a lot of fun with my S7 phone the art apps! Actually ALL of the photos came from the one blue Original. Surprises me how some of these evolve!
My "drive-bys" are way safer and less Indiana-Jones than I made them sound - hehe. I am always wearing a seatbelt and my phone is always strapped to my wrist. So I think I'll be ok! Thank you for the Mommy reaction! I am a "Mommy" too so I get it!

Glad to hear about the seatbelt. Safety first. Just saw your intro post and now that I know you are a mommy too, then I know you’re not amongst the careless teenagers out there.
The art app looks cool. I have to try to take more photos. All my photos are of the kiddos which I can’t post on here but some food and scenic pics would be a good start.

haha yes I'm the one with the "thing" for orange - are you sure you're not into it too? must have been the orange in your photos that attracted me. :) Early days on Steemit are a bit of both to be honest. I'm really enjoying the writing, and interacting with the great people on this platform is completely unexpected and very enjoyable. But it does takes a lot of time just reading all the stuff I find interesting here, never mind writing my own stuff! :) Right now I'm spending way too much time here! :)
