RE: Depression Part 1
Thank you for your remarks. Where I live there is a definite stigma to all forms of mental illness. Suicide is definitely a danger. One year here we had seven students in our local high school commit suicide. It is thought that once treatment starts and people feel a bit better they are more apt to commit suicide. Before this time they don't have enough energy to act.
Wow 7 in year, that is so sad. Here we have had a few. A couple of done it in a way to attract the local media, but nothing seems to be done. You would think if there were some the drew attention the media would say something but they don't :( When they do they put the stigma on it :(
When you get to that point it is so hard to change your thinking. You need help, but most help is to strap you in a bed and fill you full of drugs which actually makes it all worse.
This is something that is very near to me. I won't say dear since it's the furthest thing from the truth. It's the little voice inside my head constantly. I understand, I understand both sides. The biggest issue facing the younger generation, they won't have anyone adequate to talk to for years yet. So they are met with don't do this, it's bad. It's wrong of you to think those things. All that does is make it so much worse.
You are very welcome @grandam. I'm on of those that try to read as much as I can and truly support those like ourselves.
