It's all too much

21st Century Chronic Illness

Technological progress has merely provided us with more efficient means for going backwards.

What does the character surrounded by everyone talking at him do? He covers his ears. It's involuntary and is what we call self-preservation kicking in. But what happens when covering our ears becomes involuntary too ? When we're so tired, drained, defeated and wired by the endless reams of misinformation? The media-spin, manipulation, reports, re-runs and repeats. And it's everywhere now; wherever you go it is more then likely 'accessible', 24 hours a day.
It is mind-numbing, muted, madness. Add to that the current global situation and the Greek tragedy that passes for politics in the new millennium, and what you have is a maelstrom of doubtful, insecure and uncertain humanity. Lost, self-absorbed, isolated and living in virtual reality during an age that others could only have dreamed of living in.
Not only is the situation bad, it's getting worse. How are we letting this happen? What went wrong and when will people understand what an adverse effect this technological overdose is having on so many aspects of our lives today?
