Vacation Does Not Equal Freedom

in #new7 years ago (edited)

I recently went on a family vaction to Myrtle Beach, SC, and the beach was incredible. It was relaxing, enjoyable, and a much needed change of pace for us. The weather was perfect even though it had been expected to rain and storm while we were there, so we were prepared for that. But, for whatever reason, the weather held out and was Goldilocks weather - not too hot but not too cold.

The first day came and went. But, I am a fulltime student, so I am sure you can imagine how the rest of my vacation was spent. Mhm, studying in a coffee shop inside the resort. I tried doing it by the pool and by outside near the beach, but neither option worked, so I was stuck inside while the world carried on in bliss outside. And, I knew that my two papers, test, lab, and homework would not wait. Well, it would have, but in the form of a zero which would cost me my 4.0. So, let us just say that it would not wait.

It was a bit depressing, but when we become adults, we lose alot of freedom. We adopt responsibilities and realize that we do not always get what we want. Oh, to be a child again! Well, no, nevermind. I enjoy being able to drive. I am pretty sure the law frowns upon children driving cars.

Moral of the post? Adulthood sucks at times, but other times it is amazing. Yes, I was unable to participate in some of the family vacation activities, because I had work to do, but just knowing that my family was enjoying it to the fullest was enough for me.
