Neurological effects of movies & films

I have always been a huge fan of the film training day. It was not until I was older however where I could truly appreciate the talent, skill, and versatility which the two main actors possessed (played by Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke)

It got me curious however as to how far the actors could push themselves? What if they swapped roles mid scene for example? Still in costume, no cuts just swapped characters on the spot. Denzel Instead of being the "gangster cop Alonzo" was performing as clean cut cop Hoyt for a few lines then BAM it switched back...and back again...

What if you applied this method to other films?

If acted properly and executed well I believe this may have a similar effect to removing letters from words in sentences - our brains would fill in the blanks even though what we are seeing is completely wrong

Perhaps another dimension of film has yet to be tapped into or explored....Pacing of the character swaps might prove to be just as influential on a viewer as pacing of music.

what do you think?
