Pigeons are resourceful... and may even outperform computers
Pigeons at the Staten Island Ferry station drink and bathe in the water fountains and it’s mad cute
When presented a slide show of images showing different people in different places, pigeons present keen facial recognition skills. It is now widely represented in scientific research that pigeons have the ability to analyze detailed images, but the underlying mechanisms behind their success is still unclear. There is good reason to investigate this phenomenon because, for example, computers are surprisingly inferior to the pigeon when it comes to pattern recognition tasks... hence why we humans are constantly presented CAPTCHA images to prove we are not computers ourselves. Even a pigeon can pass the CAPTCHA test.
