ONE THOUSAND SCREAMS HAS THE NIGHT... A Poem and a GIF artwork inspired by a Horror Movie. -I include the original poem published in Spanish-
A GIF made by me with images from Pieces (1982) taken from here
ONE THOUSAND SCREAMS HAS THE NIGHT
It has fallen into my hands
this body with very serene forms
What flavors it promises
What turgid tissues
Grows
a carbuncle of hatred
Teeth agitate claws
In my chest
the night can
one thousand screams
One thousand cries has the night, (Mil gritos tiene la noche) was the tittle of the spanish version of Pieces, a Gore movie directed by Juan Piquer Simón.
Here is the original poem in Spanish:
Hello, eSteemed Steemians, lovers of poetry and digital art...
The friends of the Colectivo Editorial La Mancha (Editorial Collective The Stain), from Caracas, Venezuela, had kindly to publish me a book of poems that I began to write at the end of the 20th century and in the elaboration of which I invested more than ten years. It is a collection of poems that carries the same name of one of Sthepan King's novels that was later taken to the cinema, Zona Muerta, Dead Zone.
Throughout it, I play and review the figure of the ungodly, the monsters, the antiheroes, the killers, the outsiders and other characters that meander through the screens of popular cinema, trying to find the poetic essence that some beings marginalized by society may have.
On this occasion I wanted to translate one of the poems included in the book in which I explore the two-dimensionality of the human psyche, which presents the duality of two instinctive poles such as Eros and Thanatos, according to Sigmund Freud. Thus, I play in the poem with double meaning by leaving open the possibility for the reader to interpret it as a description of a violent crime or a sexual intercourse..
