Book Review: Homegoing.
•when you study history you must ask yourself, Whose story am I missing?, Whose voice was suppressed so that this voice could come forth? Once you have figured that out, you must find that story too.• --HOMEGOING.

Homegoing is a story that starting within the settings of Ghana, the tribe (Asante & Fante).
About two half sisters (Effia and Esi), whom were born in different village, separated and lived a different live from each other.
Effia got married to a British officer, dominating the Cape Coast Castle. while Esi was sold into slavery, lived in a horrified dungeon before been sold.
There's more to this (will I call it summary) I've given here.
📖
If history is been told this way then, count me totally in for it. This happens to be my first Ghana read and I'm so glad I actually picked this book up. I was able to sink into the Ghana history and it's colonizers too. Also showing what it means to be black, trying to fit in were you are not been happily welcomed.
Homegoing covers alot on slavery, what it looks like and what it truely feels. It remians of when I first read about the biafra war in Half of a Yellow Sun.
Also, issuse on rape, colour, apartheid, patriarchy, believe and injustice.
📖
Each character (which are from the descendant of the main characters) in every chapter has their own unique story, identity and experience to tell and share.
Finishing each chapter I long for more in knowing about how far did the character go, longing to see what the future has in store for each.
Alone the line, few characters weren't developed enough to me.
Among them, Esi, Kojo and Winnie stories made me felt a knot in my stomach.
📖
This @yaa.gyasi novel is a book you can relate with and get immersed in it.
The stories were lively. One of the important lessons I learnt is the way we live in the present tends to have effect on our future and even the generation that follows.
But I must say it's kind of a complex read but yet enjoyable. Thanks to the family tree (It played a big role in making it less of a complex read).
📖
It's wonderful for this to be a first time writer's work and I am looking forward to whatever gyasi has to offer to us again.
