Feeling inferior in order to drive success
You know when you think you have done something amazing? That pride and accomplished feeling you get when you worked hard to achieve a task and bring an idea to life.
But then you realize...
Someone else has done it better than you. And not just better but much better. So the feeling of accomplishment turns into a feeling of failure and then you need to start again.
This scenario happened to me and luckily it didn't go too bad before I started to make things get back on track and go good again. I don't just want things to go 'good' I want to be super successful. I want to create an empire with some creative ideas that I have. I am hoping to start again and prove myself to both me and others.
I worked hard to create something I thought was really nice and then someone showed me an image of something beyond incredible. It made me feel terrible. The good news is that I am so driven to create something even greater than the incredible image I saw.
Aside from me overcoming a negative in order to make it a positive, I find platforms like Pinterest, for example, very damaging to many people. When you think you possess or have created something fabulous and then see so many others 'outdoing' what you have, it takes away the pure feeling of gratitude and appreciation.
There's nothing like thinking you had the greatest vacation and then seeing pictures of Bora Bora where people are in huts with glass floors. It makes your 4 star vacation feel like a failure. Or thinking you had the best wedding and then seeing the most incredible wedding venue, food and decor making your $50,000 wedding feel like it was cheap.
And, for your viewing pleasure here are some examples:
I'm wishing I was in Bora Bora :)
