Joem Alik put his feet on the desk and went into what he was calling the far-reach thinking mode. And far-reach thinking was what he needed in that moment. An article about outrageous activities in the southern districts of Cashëwhata had the office telephones ringing non-stop since this early morning, something absolutely out of the ordinary at Teco-News, being a rather niche weekly publication, which wasn’t even on print, but only digital, covering mostly the strange powers that science-fiction artifacts from some forgotten and now rediscovered magazines could possess, and how these artifacts might be linked in changes in the present time.

Malik spun the main points of this article in his head, again and again. „Redecentralisation… retroactinflation… questionable fight for power and stability…“ holy block, maybe really to far for the average person on the street… It was written by an anonymous collaborator he never met, but who wrote for Teco for quite some time. He honestly didn’t even know what he looked like, or was it a she?

Since the first article published at Teco-News, this writer with the alias „D. Trap“ was delivering, not constantly, but in a now and then fashion, quite obscure, but also highly amusing articles. Anyway, the article supposedly made a lot of hard-working non-inspired people quite angry, and now he had to answer phone-call after phone call, since it was relating to the „neonGang“, a not wholly verified group of individuals who worshipped past technologies and weird symbols from the cybernet-times. Abstract paintings on walls appeared, and as if this wasn’t enough, cyber-security-workers were spammed with unknown residues from junk folders and other unjust behaviour of local riots seemed to manifest itself in the streets of transcondia, which was as far off and as dubious as the article itself.

As the name should already be hint enough, the „neonGang“ was probably made up of a bunch of tech-hooligans, who loosely organize themselves in the lowLevelDistricts, send around money through old black-market technologies called bitcoin-stack or ethereum-stack, and were supposed to deliver all kind of weird shit now and then. They sprayed weird renditions of the face of a dog on walls in the outer districts, and messed around with supply chains and delivery services in the not so well coordinated outer parts of bigger cities. To most common people around here it was agreed upon that these were suspects of the lowest order, with no sense of law, and that they were out-of-their-mind-high by whatever those kind of people might consume.

Alik liked this doge, it was a little bit retro, but still a strong symbol echoing the times it came into existence. It stood for change in mentality, a change in value distribution that took the world by storm. Exuberated and bloated car-moguls quite fanatically pushed this meme in it‘s earlier days, half the fortune of he world got sucked into it’s nimbus, but now? After the „big calm“, doge and all the other „agents of change“ where wiped off the surface of the earth. And why should people who normally wouldn’t read this article call and complain at this office anyway? What a strange day, thought Joem Alik.

Outside of a house two blocks away, a man with a fox mask and wearing a dazzling rainbow colored suit with glitter all over it ran out of an alley and shouted: „Watch out for neon! Unstoppable! Watch out for doge! Unbreakable! Watch out for the 23 days!“ The man collapsed and the rainbow suit fell over his body. Agitated people ran away and left the man behind, and after some time a silver-ligned transporter arrived at the scene, 3 men jumping out of the van, lifting him inside and driving away.
