NEO developer community (COZ) Weekly Report #8 - 2017.08.27

City Of Zion (COZ) is a group of open source developers that formed to support NEO. We provide weekly reports that summarize our goals, projects, and progress. In exchange, the NEO council is supporting these contributions through NEO rewards.

Neo Core

• Neo Unit Tests - Ongoing testing of the core Neo project.

Admin Portal

• More working on new feature (support helpdesk)

Mobile Wallet (Android/IOS)

• Implemented offline key storage
• Refactor code
• Add QoL functionalities
• Working on import functionality to import from other wallets (db3, json)
• Changes to UI flow

NeoScan

• Optimized code structure
• Started genstage pipeline design for fetching and storing information
• Cache for blockchain node state and last blocks & transactions
• Network monitoring API
  

Neon Wallet

• UI support for NEP2 key generation and login
• Begin multi-account support
• NEP2 support in Neon wallet

Neon-js

• Add support for NEP2 key encryption
• Debug and swap out slow scrypt library
• Add tests for NEP2

Neo Python

• Continued work on supporting writing and executing smart contracts in Python
• All Blockchain APIs for smart contracts working in VM, such as Contract_Get/Create, Asset_Create/Renew, etc
• Added Fixture setup for unit/e2e testing of contract invocations deep into the blockchain
• Updated Readme

Neo Developer GUI

• New dialogs to debug and interact with smart contracts.
• General bug fixes.

It is a very good signal for the health of our community that despite having 5 council members on vacation or away (canesin, unignorant, ashant, fabwa, and localhuman) we still reviewed and received lots of contributions. For example, the work contributed for the Neo developer GUI is outstanding, and took place 100% outside of the council. Our community’s progress on the Python implementation signals another potential tipping point for Neo, as we now have a high quality independent node implementation that can execute Neo smart contracts, greatly reducing risks for investors in the platform.
