Needlework: Recycling An Old Jean Trouser Into A New Pair Of Shoe.
I started this quite late and so I couldn't finish the before the night draw nigh.
But I will show you a few step I took while making this pair of shoes.
I thought of a better idea and it got me to this.
I am using it as my entry for today's @needleworkmonday
And of course everything here was made with an hand needle. God! It was damn stressful😔
Materials Used
- An old jean trouser
- A pair of shoe pad
- Scissor
- Razor
- Needle
- Thread
- Shoe needle
- Fancy stone
- Chalk
How did I get this done or perhaps how did I start it.
Below are few shot from the process and a bit of an explanation.
Process and Procedures
- First, all i had to do was take out my old Jean trouser and cut out its legs and discard the body. All I needed for making the shoes was the trouser's legs, that alone as enough.
After getting my Jean material, I cut it out into a flat layer, I did this with the help of a scissor.
Then I measured out the shoe on the jean material using the shoe pad or shoe sample
When I got the shape and size of the shoe I was about making, I cut out the jean material to the exact size of the shoe I measured and needed.
Then I started sewing. I attached the jean material unto the shoe pad and sown. I used white thread to sew.
After I was done with the sewing which took a greater part of my time; due to how tedious the work was. I cut out the remaining rope or thread from my sewing process.
Then I washed the shoe and added colour; blue. This was to give the jean material a better look
Being that the jean trouser was an old and worn out one so the colour had faded. So I brighten the colour again by adding the blue colour to it while washing in water. And finally, I attached my fancy Pearl Stone to the shoe to give it a better and amazing look.
This was really tedious, stressful and time consuming. I bet you wouldn't dare try it alone.
But I had to do what I had to do.
I recycled an old Jean trouser into a new pair of shoe.
I love creativity.

Thank you for engaging my blog
Good idea - you can use the fabric from the legs if you make shorts out of torn jeans.
Yes I could try that too. Thank you for your useful comment @muscara
That's a nice pair of casual slip-ons. What did you use for the bottom of the shoe - was it the same jeans material?
Thanks @shanibeer
No! I used the sole of another slip-ons to make this new one
Thank you so much for sharing the process of your work with photos! These slip on sandals are like brand new. You did a really great job upcycling them. I love how you made them more blue. Job well done :)
