Needleworkmonday- Some of My Designs

in #needleworkmonday7 years ago

I have always loved textiles, but gravitated to knitting many years ago when my boyfriend and I were building a house. There was absolutely no room for sewing or dyeing, but knitting made perfect sense.
Years later, I'm still at it and continue to learn.
Here is some of my recent work:

Due to restrictions in the hand knitting yarn industry, my only option for a wholesale account was limited to ecru stock. This turned out to be a blessing! I began to prefer dyeing my own yarn because I had more control over the color palette.

A few years back, I bought vintage hobby knitting machines to help with production.

Even when using the machines, I still find myself doing hours of finishing by hand.

I hope you like my work. If you are interested in a tutorial on dyeing, machine knitting, hand knitting or designing knitwear, please let me know what you'd like to see in the comments. I also write patterns and have included one in a previous post.

You're so creative and everything you make comes out lovely. Thank you for sharing. 🙂

@lightsavior, thanks so much for your compliments! I think you are helping me to get started on another project. 🙂

It’s my pleasure! I enjoy seeing your creations. That’s awesome, I am flattered! I too want to start another project. I’m going to be knitting my daughter a blanket for her birthday this year.🎁♥️

These are great! The colors on those mittens and the first jacket are absolutely adorable. And the Bees and hearts pattern on the sweater is also fun. Not my style, but fun!

Thanks! A lot of the stuff is sized for kids. I do tone things down a bit when knitting for adults.

Beautiful work. I love all of it :)

Thank you!

The socks...I must have the socks that look like lace-up boots. Your stuff is amazing, @kimmac! Happy #NeedleworkMonday to you!

The slippers are decorated by needle felting. It's really easy to do. So glad you like them. I call them Forest Boots.

Perfect name. I think I would still probably try to wear them. LOL!

wonderful work !!!! I especially liked the first dress

Thanks for the compliment!

Hello @kimmac and Welcome to #NeedleWorkMonday!! We are so glad to have you join us! Thank you for sharing some of your pieces with us this week! They are so lovely! I really love the colors in the sweater and fingerless gloves!! Those socks are so stinking cute!!!

I would love to learn more about machine knitting and how all of that works. I’m familiar with the sewing machine but not the knitting ones. Looking forward to seeing more of your work. We love to see the process of our projects being done so feel free to take picture along the way as you make new items!! 😊

Thanks for your input! I will definitely do a machine knitting post in the future.

You are very welcome! That would be awesome! 😊
