Needlework Monday - Decor cup polymer clay. "Bear with balloons". Handmade from @elenka
Hi, Steemit!!!
Greetings dear readers!
I was recently inspired by the idea of decorating cups with polymer clay. Such a cup can be a wonderful gift for a loved one and drink tea from it will be much tastier!
Tools and materials:
- polymer clay of different colors
- ceramic cup
- work surface (glass, tile or sheet of paper)
- Dots, needle and modeling stacks
- rhinestones (for the eyes of the bear)
- epoxy adhesive
At first I blinded a bear on a flat surface. It was more convenient for me to work. But at this stage, the texture of the wool was not worked out.
I carefully transferred the bear to the cup and smoothed the clay from all sides, so that the bear repeated the curve of the cup.
With a needle, I created fluffy fur, first on the head and ears, and then on the legs.
At this stage, the bear is almost ready. I wanted to add bright colors to the composition, so I blinded three balloons, and attached a brooch-heart to the sweater.
An interesting effect can be achieved using tinting. I tinted the ears and the bear’s head with dark brown pastel and added glitter with golden eyeshadow.
The composition on the cup is ready for baking in the oven. The cup should be put in a still cold oven and not in a hurry to get it out, it is better to wait until the product cools down.
The next stage is not the easiest - I had to gently pry the bear with a clerical knife to separate it from the cup and stick it on epoxy glue. Thanks to this, the cup can be used without fear that the decoration will fall away from it. From this cup you can drink hot drinks and wash in the usual way. You can not only soak for a long time in water and wash in a dishwasher, as well as heat in the microwave.
I really hope that you liked this idea of a cup decor! I wish you a wonderful creative mood!

He is very cute 😊
Thank you very much!!! 😊
Great idea for decorating the cup and I like that you epoxyed it on after it was baked into shape
Thank you very much!!! Yes, only epoxy adhesive is suitable for gluing such a decor.
You are so talented, @elenka. I love all the details and your photos really set off the work. Very interesting how you use the needles for texture and how the colors change with heat.
Anyone would love to have this cup :)

Thank you very much for your attention !!! I am very pleased!
The needle is my indispensable tool in working with polymer clay. In this work, I made the texture of the bear’s fur with a thin needle. In other works, strips and grooves are made with a needle. This tool is very suitable for creating textures and small details)
