I taught myself to tat with a shuttle this evening!
Tatting is a form of lace making.
I already know the basics of needle tatting,
but Mom wants to learn how to use her granny's shuttle.
This means I needed to figure it out.

This is one of the needlearts I have wanted to learn for a long time, but for some reason it just now clicked for me.
Tatting is nothing more than a base thread used to hold hand manipulated knots.
At one time this was a widely used handcraft to make thing from doylies to wedding dresses.
Today it is rarely used form of lace making due to the time it takes to produce even a small product.
it is so much easier to order something made by a machine.
If you would like to learn more about this traditional craft, you can visit the website Felt Magnet for further information. Click HERE to go to the website.
Thanks so much for taking the time to visit and celebrate this excellent achievement.

Hi @rubberduckiemom. Those are really beautiful. You are so gifted at needlework.
I love doing it so much. I am having to decide most days between Steem and embroidery! Haha
